Thanks to the Calvin Hughes scholarship, I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Technology. I applied for the scholarship at the same time as taking my UVG admission exam.

While completing my degree, I faced various challenges. I saw them as steps or levels to overcome, because each semester of study brought its own challenges. I had the opportunity to participate in different events hosted by the Guatemalan Chamber of Industry, and together with my colleagues managed to win the competitions. I was also part of various symposiums in favor of saving Lake Atitlán.

Studying at the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG) opened up a world of possibilities for me. In my second year, I did an exchange semester at the University of Oviedo, Spain. With this experience, I developed a new vision of telecommunications and the potential that exists in Guatemala for them.

Upon completing my degree, I was awarded the Scholarship for Excellence from the Carolina Foundation. Using this, I completed a Master’s in Cybersecurity Law and Digital Environment at the University of León in Spain.

Today, I work in Cybersecurity Certifications Studies at Conecta Iberoamérica, and now that I have completed my master’s degree, my goal is to help promote cybersecurity in Guatemala.

Thanks to the Universidad del Valle and the scholarship I obtained, I have been able to undertake many invaluable experiences, enhancing my career and forming my vision for the future of Guatemala. My scholarship also helped my parents financially, as they are also supporting my brothers in their pursuit of university degrees.

Additionally, thanks to the knowledge I acquired, I helped the Departmental Directorate of Education of Sololá to systematize processes, directly benefiting more than 50,000 teachers from the entire departmental area, and indirectly benefiting more than 110,000 students.

These achievements are not mine alone. It has all been thanks to God and to the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, which gave me the scholarship.
